Founder and Acting Chairperson 

One Love LGBTIQ+ Community were founded by Daniël Du Preez a 2018 Activater & LGBTIQ+ Rights Activists to assist the LGBTIQ+ community in South Africa.

Daniël’s top priority include working for a safe 

environment for all LGBTIQ+ students, by hosting workshops, hackathons and presentations that will build and support models of inclusion making his work relevant for all diverse communities .

 

Although school bullying is a severe, nationwide problem, many teachers and administrators are reluctant to intervene or adopt policies to prevent it. And many children don’t report violence or harassment because they believe it either won’t make a difference or will make matters worse.

 

Through educational campaigns, Daniël is working on ensure that school environments are inclusive, equitable and safe for all students.

 

Daniël also taken strong action to defend the rights of LGBTIQ+ students who have encountered school policies or practices that violate their free expression rights under the constitution.

 

Outside the classroom, he working to ban the practice of “conversion” therapy, Many LGBTIQ+ youths have been harmed psychologically and alienated from their families by conversion therapy, which purports to change a person’s sexual orientation. The practice, based on the idea that LGBTIQ+ people have a mental disorder, also promotes a climate of bigotry and discrimination's.

 

Daniël additionally invested in reducing the discrimination and harassment that LGBTIQ+ youth experience in the child welfare and juvenile justice systems.
