We Stand with the Gay community of Tanzania

12 November 2018

Dear: Mr. President Cyril Ramaphosa

One Love LGBTIQ+ Community feels it is the Responsibility of South Africa Government to stand with the Gay community of Tanzania and we ask you as South African Government to give all gay Tanzania Refugees that want to come to South Africa Refugee Status in South Africa.

Anti-gay prejudice in Tanzania is causing the Gay community of Tanzania to live in fear and we ask that South Africa Government officially reassess South Africa’s relationship with Tanzania.

Arrests of gay men in Tanzania over the weekend, and the launch of "anti-gay patrols" are the latest incidents currently happening in Tanzania.

Tanzania's homophobic actions are particularly uncomfortable for us as the South African LGBTIQ+ Community.

We as South Africans need to start promotes LGBT equality around the world and need to roundly condemned some of the practices used in Tanzania — particularly the use of forced anal exams to collect "evidence" of homosexual behavior, which in Tanzania can lead to a life sentence in prison.

One Love LGBTIQ+ Community stands in solidarity with the Gay Community of Tanzania.

Please do the right thing Mr President
